South Windsor Police Services relies on taxpayer dollars as well as public and private gifts to maintain the level of police service appropriate for our community.  Our budget is under constant scrutiny.  Unfortunately, we are forced to sacrifice each year during our budget preparations, and projects or equipment we propose to participate in or purchase are deferred to future years.  It is important that a modern police agency maintain pace with the constantly evolving fields of crime detection and prevention.  In addition, our increased reliance on technology driven systems has put a great strain on our fiscal resources.  We currently have computers in every police cruiser that keep our officers in constant contact with our police dispatcher, our police records database and other officers both in South Windsor and neighboring communities.  We employ the use of wireless computer technology so our officers who work out side of a police cruiser also have continued access to our police records database as well as state and federal law enforcement databases.  Access to these systems allows our officers to have at their fingertips information that in the past could only be retrieved by making a trip to the police station and submitting a query on a single designated computer or by telephone.  These modern methods of policing are often misunderstood or not understood at all which results in inadequate funding.  It is through the continuing generosity of those who recognize the importance of equipping our officers with the tools necessary to fight crime in today's world that we are able to keep our department modern and provide the highest possible level of police service.  Please consider a bequest to South Windsor Police Services.  Your legacy; safety, security and professionalism for your family and community.
