The
Support Services Commander is Commander Thomas Hart.
Commander Hart
has been a member of the police department for 38 years. Commander Hart
holds an Associate in Science degree from Manchester Community College, a
Bachelor of Science degree from Charter Oak State College and Master of
Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England
College. He is a 1997 graduate of the FBI National Academy and
served as an adjunct professor at Western New England College.
As commander of Support
Services, Commander Hart is responsible for the police facility, the
property and evidence storage facility, the jail, public safety
communications, police fleet operations, information technology, police
records and dispatch systems and oversees the activities of the department's
community outreach officer.
During his years
in South Windsor, Commander Hart has
been assigned as Operations Commander, Watch Commander, Traffic Manager, Incident
Commander, Criminal Investigator, Youth Services Officer, Undercover Narcotics
Investigator, and has been Supervisor of the Regional Narcotics Squad.
Commander Hart was also responsible for the formation of the South Windsor Traffic
Safety Enforcement Unit.
